December 2024 – Event in Germany Strengthens the Park’s International Presence and Expands Innovation and Business Opportunities in the Healthcare Sector
Representatives from SUPERA Park for Innovation and Technology, located in Ribeirão Preto (SP), attended Medica 2024, held in Düsseldorf, Germany. Recognized as the world’s largest medical industry event, the trade fair provided a strategic opportunity for SUPERA Park to showcase its initiatives, market its services, establish international connections, and stay updated on trends in healthcare technology and innovation.
The SUPERA delegation included Professor Dr. Lauro Wichert, the park’s Technical Director, and Érico Moreli, Coordinator of the Technology Center. Both played a key role in representing the park, particularly in promoting the services offered by the Technology Center for Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) and the certification of electromedical equipment.
During Medica, the SUPERA team held meetings with renowned institutions such as Universität Duisburg-Essen, the Fraunhofer IPK Institute, and Biotec Park Berlin Bunch. These meetings focused on knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and identifying potential collaborations for technological development projects. “This event allows us to keep up with the world’s leading trends in healthcare and technology while also strengthening our international presence, bringing new perspectives to the Brazilian innovation ecosystem,” highlights Professor Dr. Lauro Wichert.
Technology and Innovation as a Primary Focus
SUPERA’s presence at Medica reflects the park’s commitment to consolidating its role as an innovation hub in Brazil. The park’s Technology Center, specializing in electromedical equipment, exemplifies how Brazilian infrastructure can be leveraged to attract partnerships and drive local technological development.
“Medica is a global showcase. Being here is essential for understanding market demands, connecting companies with new technologies, and positioning Brazil in cutting-edge discussions within the healthcare sector. It is important to emphasize that Medica’s attendees are decision-makers in the medical industry, which facilitates contract negotiations for R&D and certification,” says Érico Moreli. Furthermore, the participation underscores the park’s ability to foster innovation in a highly complex sector while seeking business opportunities that connect Brazilian companies with international markets.
One of the main benefits of attending Medica was networking with researchers, companies, and leaders from top-tier institutions. The fair brought together exhibitors from various countries, providing a rich platform for experience exchange and business prospecting. The meetings conducted by the SUPERA team highlighted opportunities for collaboration in projects integrating academic research and industrial development. Key topics discussed included artificial intelligence in healthcare, advanced medical devices, and sustainability in the medical field, aligning with global and regional industry priorities.
Impact on the Brazilian Innovation Ecosystem
SUPERA’s activities in Germany go beyond direct benefits for the park; they also have a positive impact on the national innovation ecosystem. International partnerships strengthen Brazil’s position on the global stage and expand technological development opportunities for local companies and startups. With the connections established during the trade fair, SUPERA aims to bring cutting-edge technologies and cooperation models to Brazil, driving the growth of incubated companies and park partners. “Our goal is to act as a bridge between Brazil and the international market, connecting talent and ideas to promote healthcare as a strategic field for innovation and development,” adds Lauro Wichert.
