November 2024 – DOBSLIT and Embraer Announce Pioneering Partnership in Quantum Technologies for the Aviation Industry
The first fully commercial project involving quantum computing in Brazil is currently underway, led by Dobslit, a startup affiliated with the SUPERA Park Membership Program. SUPERA Park is an innovation hub created and maintained through a partnership between the University of São Paulo (USP), the City of Ribeirão Preto, and the São Paulo Department of Development.
The partnership between DOBSLIT and Embraer, announced during The Developer Conference 2024 in São Paulo, marks a significant milestone for both companies as they join forces to explore the potential of quantum computing in the industrial sector.
Quantum computing is a revolutionary technology capable of processing and evaluating multiple combinations of outcomes simultaneously within seconds. With this massive data-processing capability, quantum machines can perform calculations in minutes that classical computing—based on the binary bit system—would take thousands of years to complete.
DOBSLIT will implement an advanced proof-of-concept (PoC) project focused on enhancing Embraer’s industrial robotic infrastructure. The initiative aims to showcase how quantum computing can be applied in the context of Industry 4.0, seamlessly integrating modern user interfaces to optimize robotic systems in complex industrial environments. The project seeks to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance the overall capabilities of Embraer’s robotic operations.
“We are thrilled to partner with Embraer, a global leader in aerospace innovation, to demonstrate real-world applications of quantum computing in the industrial sector,” said Rogerio Ruivo, DOBSLIT’s Director of Technologies. “This project is just the beginning of our collaboration and reflects the growing interest in quantum technologies across various sectors.”
The São Carlos-based startup, founded in 2021, has extensive experience in utilizing quantum computing for data-intensive sectors such as finance, logistics, and cybersecurity. This collaboration with Embraer follows a significant milestone achieved at EBSE, a century-old name in electromechanical equipment manufacturing and assembly. EBSE serves industries like oil and gas, energy, paper and pulp, steel, mining, cement, construction, nuclear, sanitation, and defense. In partnership with the Fluminense Federal Institute’s Embrapii Unit and Arcdynamics—a high-tech welding specialist—this project represents a landmark for both the industry and the country.
DOBSLIT’s expertise extends beyond industrial applications. In August 2023, the startup introduced Brazil’s first educational quantum computer, installed at the São Caetano do Sul (SP) unit of the National Service for Industrial Learning (SENAI). The Embraer partnership project will be delivered during a ceremony at SENAI’s UpLab accelerator on Avenida Paulista (São Paulo, SP) on December 5.
As a standout name in one of Brazil’s leading innovation ecosystems, Dobslit benefits from SUPERA Park’s infrastructure. SUPERA integrates universities, research institutes, startups, and tech-based companies, fostering knowledge and technology exchange. It also offers a business incubator to support new startups, a tech center for product testing and certification in accredited labs, and facilities for companies of all sizes in Ribeirão Preto (SP).
